Donald J. Trump filed a lawsuit on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, against the New York State Attorney General Letitia James to stop her long-running civil investigation into his business practices, Jonah E. Bromwich, Ben Protess and William K. Rashbaum reported for the New York Times.

The suit, filed in federal court in upstate New York by Trump and his family real estate business, argues that James’s inquiry, which has lasted more than two years, has violated Trump’s constitutional rights.
James has been looking into the bad habit of Trump, like inflating the values of his assets when seeking loans from banks, and reducing profits to avoid paying the proper state and federal taxes.
Other New York inquiries focus on unreported financial benefits to key personnel like the payment of tuition for the children and grandchildren of favored executives, reduced rentals, double compensation for Trump’s children, all of which had not been reported to the New York state government.
