Donald Trump, who is trying to return to the White House after losing to President Joe Biden in 2020, has started to promise the moon to US voters, vowing to build an “impenetrable dome” to protect the US from nuclear missile attacks, Graeme Massie reported for The Independent.

To sweeten the pot of political daydreams, Trump dished out yet another crazy idea: He claimed he could end the Russian invasion of Ukraine “within 24 hours.”
The one-term president released a video saying that foreign powers were now openly “using the nuclear word all the time” because “they have no respect for our leadership.” Trump added that “it is a word you are never allowed to use” and insisted it had never been said when he was in the White House.
But Trump became the laughingstock in Moscow when Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to his boast that Poland named a military base after him and that Israel was also naming an area similar to Golan Heights in his honor. Putin’s cutting remark: “Donald, they should rename Israel after you." Trump couldn’t say a word.
And the former president told his followers in the Friday video about the serious impact of any future global conflict.
“World War Three would be a catastrophe unlike any other. This would make World War One and World War Two look like very small battles,” he added. “The best way to ensure that such a conflict never happens is to be prepared with unmatched technology and unrivaled strength.
To this end, when I am Commander in Chief…to build a state-of-the-art, next-generation missile defense shield, just as Israel is now protected by the ‘Iron Dome,’ a dream once thought impossible, America must have an impenetrable dome to protect our people.”
Trump cut a deal for US forces to leave Afghanistan and Biden was left with the dirty job of taking the troops out as the Taliban advanced. The only other person who promised to build a dome covering the entire country to protect it from typhoons was late Philippine presidential aspirant Pascual Racuyal.
The video came a day after Trump took to Truth Social to suggest that he had the ability to stop Vladimir Putin’s almost yearlong unprovoked attack on Ukraine.
“If I were president, the Russia/Ukraine war would never have happened, but even now, if president, I would be able to negotiate an end to this horrible and rapidly escalating war within 24 hours. Such a tragic waste of human life!!!” What Trump did was to attack NATO, scuttle the Iran nuclear deal, and bloat his ego by spinning a web of lies.
Trump never won a popular vote as only the moribund US Electoral College elected him in 2016. He tried to win a nomination in 2012 but was frogmarched out of the primaries. In 2020, Biden beat him by 7.5 million votes.
