U.S. Confirms Shipment Of 50 Bradley Fighting Vehicles To Ukraine

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has confirmed “the largest yet” new military assistance package for Ukraine, worth more than $3.25 billion and including 50 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, thus compounding the problem of Russian forces that have already complained of poor equipment and bad provisions, Kyiv Independent reported.

Politico also reported that the US is supplying Ukraine with Sea Sparrow anti-air missiles. Sea Sparrows can be launched from the sea or ground to intercept aircraft or cruise missiles.
The US and most allies use the ship-mounted version. However, Ukraine is expected to use the ground-launched version, currently only operated this way by Taiwan.
Not to be outdone, Germany is shipping 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. According to Nils Schmid, a foreign policy spokesman for the Social Democratic Party, the vehicles could be delivered in the first quarter of 2023, along with additional Gepard anti-aircraft batteries.
The US-made air defense battery Patriot will be delivered to Ukraine from Germany's supplies in the first quarter of 2023, according to German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit.
CNN reported late on Jan. 7, 2023, that the US will start Ukrainian training on Patriots later this month. Laura Cooper, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, the training will take “several months."
