The soft landing that seemed nearly impossible for the Federal Reserve to achieve remains on track, according to Jan Hatzius, the chief economist of Goldman Sachs, as reported by Matt Egan for CNN.
Goldman Sachs analysts remain optimistic about a soft landing for the US economy.
"It doesn't look like the economy is anywhere close to a recession," Hatzius told CNN. Despite acknowledging higher-than-expected inflation this year, the Goldman economist maintains his prediction for a soft landing.
"Overall, if I look at the news flow over the last year, it's still very, very positive," Hatzius remarked.
"Inflation has come down substantially during that period, and more importantly, it's come down without significant weakness in activity. We haven't seen a recession or come close to one."
