The Biden administration's decision to send senior figures to Beijing appears to be yielding results, particularly in terms of encouraging China to engage in more discussions.

The US and China have established two new economic working groups, and there is a possibility that President Xi may visit the US for the first time since 2017, as reported by James Palmer for Foreign Policy.
However, there also appears to be some internal disagreement within China regarding these developments, with security agencies cautioning against a visit by President Xi.
It is evident that Beijing is not inclined to readily accept Washington's expanding security role in East Asia. Chinese state media criticized new agreements between the US and Vietnam following President Joe Biden's visit.
"My impression is that economically focused officials in China are eager to address ongoing issues and are prepared to collaborate with the United States to do so. However, security officials perceive such cooperation as conceding to the adversary. Generally, under Xi's leadership, security concerns tend to take precedence," concluded Palmer.
