An outstanding court judgment for a debt of 535 pounds (756 dollars) in British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's name has been scrapped, according to a court spokesperson, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) reported.

Official records on the database of county court judgments for England and Wales, seen by dpa on Wednesday, showed a case involving Johnson, who is registered at his official residence of 10 Downing Street, London.

The document showed the case was an "unsatisfied record," suggesting it had not been resolved, and that there was an outstanding debt of 535 pounds.

However, a court official told PA Media news agency on Thursday there is no longer a county court judgment present in the case after applications to strike out the claim were considered by a district judge. Earlier on Thursday, the prime minister’s official spokesman told journalists his office was "moving at speed to get this removed."

“Courts do have the power to strike down vexatious claims as an abuse of the court, and they do issue various orders restricting litigants’ ability to continue with further claims," he added.

The case gained traction in British media on Wednesday as Johnson is currently facing questions about the funding of the refurbishment of his Downing Street flat and a vacation he took to the Caribbean island of Mustique in 2019. After the news broke on Wednesday, his spokesperson said the claim was not connected to the funding of his flat and it was "without merit."
