The British consumer products company announced its intention to separate from the brand, along with other ice cream ventures such as Magnum and Cornetto, as reported by Aimee Picchi for CBS News.
The decision stems from Unilever's strategy to concentrate on "superior brands with strong positions in highly attractive categories that have complementary operating models."
This move coincides with the launch of a "productivity program," anticipated to result in the reduction of approximately 7,500 office-based jobs. The spinoff of the ice cream division is projected to conclude by the end of 2025, according to BBC News.
The decision reflects the recognition that the ice cream businesses operate under a distinct model.
Unilever's other ice cream brands, including Cornetto, Magnum, and Kwality Wall's, will also be included in the spinoff. With a profit margin considerably lower than that of personal care products, Unilever aims to optimize growth opportunities for both its ice cream division and the broader company.
Unilever's diverse portfolio encompasses renowned brands such as Dove soap, Hellman's, Pepsodent, and Vaseline, as highlighted by the Associated Press (AP).
