The northern province of Bac Giang in Vietnam earned 6.9 trillion dong (VND) of $300 million from selling more than 164,000 tons of lychee and support services this year, up 600 billion VND against last year’s figure.

In the context of the COVID-19 outbreak, the province paid greater attention to promoting domestic lychee consumption, the Vietnam news agency (VNA) reported on July 25, 2020.
As a result, up to 52.5 percent of its lychee output was consumed domestically.
In exports, apart from traditional markets such as China and the EU, Bac Giang’s lychees were also shipped to the demanding Japanese market for the first time, with export volumes reaching some 200 tons, helping to raise the value of the fruit.
