Vietnam's VietJet Inks $400M Deal With Rolls-Royce

Vietnam's VietJet Aviation on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, signed a $400-million contract with Rolls-Royce for the provision of aircraft engines and services, the budget airline told Reuters.

The deal for the Trent-700 engines for widebody aircraft was signed in Edinburgh in the presence of Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is heading to Glasgow to attend the United Nations COP26 summit, the airline said in a statement.
Vietnam, like other countries, has suffered losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic as several spikes of the deadly virus hit cities and areas close to the Chinese border.
VietJet seeks to boost arrivals once the pandemic eases and improve the performance of the country’s tourism industry.
Rolls-Royce is one of the global leaders in the development, deployment, and servicing of jet engines.
