The original Scout SUVs and trucks were manufactured by International Harvester in the 1960s and 1970s, representing the commercial truck maker's venture into the passenger vehicle market, Peter Valdes-Dapena for CNN.Â

The VW Group holds a 5% market share for vehicle sales in the US, with the mainstream Volkswagen brand accounting for slightly less than half of that figure.
The remainder comes from Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and a small portion from Lamborghini. Volkswagen Group executives often refer to the North American market as a source of "untapped potential."
