The partners will offer aircraft lease and finance solutions as part of the deal, allowing operators to operate zero-emission flights.

"We are delighted to have partnered with ZeroAvia who are the market leader in the hydrogen-electric space. Our partnership is an important step in our journey towards becoming one of the world's first zero-emission aircraft lessors and we look forward to working with the ZeroAvia team on offering financing solutions for turboprop operators,” Timothy Eyre, Investment Director at MONTE said.

Under the terms of agreement, MONTE will purchase up to 100 ZA600 powertrains to be installed on current and new Cessna Caravan, DHC-6 Twin Otter, Dornier 228 and HAL-228 aircraft.

Beginning in 2024, MONTE and ZeroAvia plan to refit the aircraft for clients, providing and financing maintenance and hydrogen availability services to support these operations. The agreement establishes ZeroAvia MONTE as the aircraft's only hydrogen-electric powertrain vendor.

James Peck, VP Business Development at ZeroAvia added, "ZeroAvia and MONTE will provide a compelling proposition to operators of 5-20 seat aircraft. This partnership will offer flexibility to operators to allow them to launch zero-emissions flights on their networks, as well as extending the lifespan of hundreds of in-service airframes."

ZeroAvia's hydrogen-electric powertrain combines cutting-edge fuel cell and electric motor technology to create an unrivaled aircraft engine that improves operating economics while minimizing environmental impact.

The ZeroAvia ZA600 powertrain, a 600kW system that is designed to support 5-20 seat airframes by 2024, uses gaseous hydrogen stored onboard in lightweight tanks. The hydrogen is used to power fuel cell stacks, which convert hydrogen into electricity.

Aviation currently accounts for 3% of global CO2 emissions each year. This is roughly equivalent to one billion metric tonnes of CO2. As a result, the aviation industry has a significant and pivotal role to play in reducing global emissions.
