80% Rise In COVID-19 Infections

The World Health Organization has issued a warning about the spread of the delta variant coronavirus, urging everyone to get vaccinated before more variants emerge. The health organization reported that worldwide infections have nearly doubled in the past four weeks.

Amidst pledges from EU countries to donate vaccines to developing nations, there has been widespread criticism of rich countries. WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has issued an alarming statement that it is now becoming increasingly clear that Africa is one of the most at-risk regions for this disease, lamenting further that 70% of African countries will not reach 10% vaccination rates by September.

“Many African countries have prepared well to roll out vaccines, but the vaccines have not arrived,” he added in a report filed by the PBS News Hour.
