Japan Renewable Energy Corp. (JRE) stated in a release that it dismissed chairperson Shigeru Yasu after an internal investigation confirmed sexual harassment at a social gathering in December.
The company initiated the probe following a whistleblower's report.
JRE issued a “deep apology” to the victim and stakeholders, asserting that such behavior is “not acceptable.” Yasu becomes the third executive within the Eneos group to be terminated for sexual harassment in two years.
Late last year, Eneos Holdings’ then-president, Takeshi Saito, was dismissed for inappropriate behavior, while in 2022, Eneos chairperson Tsutomu Sugimori resigned after allegations of sexual harassment.
