ARGENTINES CREATE MAP OF FOOD PRODUCERS AND ARTISANS

An Argentinian group has created a map of Argentine agri-food producers and artisans, listing 350 georeferences, organized by item, and grouped by specific activity, the Argentine news agency Telam reported.

Farmers, collectors, fishermen, producers of bread, chocolates, sweets, cheeses, wines, vermouth, beer and spirits from all over the country make up the "Map of Producers and Crafts of Argentina." Published at https://soloporgusto.com/mapa-de-artesanos-y-productores-de-alimentos-argentinos-spg/, the initiative focuses on projects aligned with agroecology, fair trade and sustainability from the perspective of food sovereignty.

"I wanted to publicize the work of the producers of Argentina, the first link in the gastronomic chain, also the most fragile and the most invisible," explained María De Michelis, in charge of the gastronomic portal.

He added: “More and more agroecology is presented as a healthy and real option; and the origin of the food and the traceability in which many cooks had been working began to arouse more interest. The map tries to build a federal network that allows to link producers from all over the country with each other and with their potential customers."
