The victory by Tom Suozzi, an ex-congressman, offers his party a potential path in November 2024 as it contests suburban swing districts.
With 93% of the ballots counted, Suozzi amassed 91,338 votes or 53.9%, while the GOP bet in New York’s 3rd district, the Orthodox Jew Mazi Pilip, garnered only 78,229 votes or 46.1%. Suozzi, who left his post to run for governor, was congressman for three terms.
