The game is out in time for F1's return to one of its most iconic circuits for the British Grand Prix this weekend. Last year's British Grand Prix featured a major clash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in what turned out to be a season suited for television drama. This year's game features new revolutionary cars designed for closer and more entertaining racing, significant rule changes with the addition of F1 Sprint, the debut of the Miami International Autodrome, and circuit modifications in Spain, Australia, and Abu Dhabi.
To commemorate the release, EA SPORTS collaborated with Scuderia Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to create a one-of-a-kind peek into the life of a top Formula 1 driver. F1 22 introduces important technology advancements, such as redesigned physics, handling, and tire models that closely represent real-world developments in the sport. The game adds Adaptive AI, a setting that varies the amount of difficulty applied to AI competitors, changing their pace and competitiveness so that inexperienced players are always in the thick of the action.
Virtual reality (VR) makes its PC debut as well, providing the most immersive on-track F1 experience to date. Players may now experience the rush of excitement from the cockpit in single-player games or with their buddies in multiplayer.
According to Lee Mather, F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, “F1 22 strikes a great balance for race fans of all levels and deepens the authenticity of the Formula 1 experience, with challenging, realistic and high adrenaline race moments.”
This is brought about by the addition of interactive and cinematic features, such as Immersive and Broadcast choices for Pit Stops, Formation Laps, and Safety Car periods, which enhance race-day authenticity.
Significant audio upgrades include the re-recording and growth of commentary teams in different locations, a dynamic musical score, and, for the first time in series history, a licensed soundtrack featuring a global roster of electronic and dance artists.
F1 Life, a new adjustable social hub that allows gamers a peek of an F1 driver away from the race, is introduced in the game. This personal space, which functions as a Multiplayer lobby, lets players display their collection of supercars, clothes, accessories, and trophies gained by completing in-game tasks, leveling up in the Podium Pass, and purchasing items from the brand shop and in-game store.
The eight supercars introduce additional gameplay challenges, such as drifting and duels, and may be driven on-track in the Pirelli Hot Lap feature, which simulates the first half of the race weekend.
Along with all of the exciting in-game changes, F1 22 increases its player features with the reintroduction of My Team, which now has three starting points, the acclaimed 10-year Career with two-player capabilities, and Multiplayer, which includes an offline split-screen.
