In the first nine months of the year, Globe successfully blocked a total of 404,730 sites and links, marking a substantial 45% increase compared to the same period last year.
This surge in blocked URLs and domains, particularly in the third quarter of the year, reflects Globe's commitment to creating a safer online environment. In Q3 2023 alone, the number of malicious sites blocked by Globe increased by 70.8% to 267,985, compared to 156,857 reported in the same quarter of 2022.
Breaking down the January-September figures, Globe blocked 397,637 URLs and successfully restricted 4,795 domains in 2023. This is a significant rise from 275,720 URLs and 1,432 domains blocked in 2022.
Notably, Globe also focused on combating child pornography, barring 2,298 domains by the end of September 2023, compared to 1,403 during the same period last year.
Anton Bonifacio, Chief Information Security Officer at Globe, emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to creating a safe online environment. Globe has been at the forefront of the fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) in the Philippines since 2017 through its #MakeITSafePH campaign.
