HAMAMATSU CASTLE LIT AS VIRUS WARNING

HAMAMATSU -- The government of this central Japan city has begun to light up its symbolic HamamatsuCastle in yellow to warn people about the spread of the novel coronavirus, after two infection clusters were identified downtown, according to Mainichi Shimbun.

The special alert illumination began on the night of July 28, and the Hamamatsu Municipal Government will continue it every day from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. until the number of daily new cases sinks below five for two straight weeks.


The municipality has announced nine new local cases on both July 29 and 30, bringing the total number of infections in the city to 114.
