Clinton met with the GOP-led House Oversight Committee in Chappaqua, New York. The session lasted more than six hours and was briefly disrupted after an image taken by Rep. Lauren Boebert inside the room was posted online, Mike Bebernes reported for the Associated Press (AP).

Former President Bill Clinton appeared before the committee, as well.

The depositions followed months of back-and-forth between the Clintons and Republican committee leaders, who threatened to hold them in contempt of Congress if they refused to testify.

In a statement, Hillary Clinton said she does not recall ever meeting Epstein and accused Republicans of pursuing “fishing expeditions” rather than conducting a serious investigation.

She said committee questions included topics such as UFOs, Pizzagate, and other conspiracy theories raised by members led by James Comer.

“You have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump’s actions and to cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers,” she wrote.

“I don’t know how many times I had to say I did not know Jeffrey Epstein,” she told reporters. “I never went to his island. I never went to his homes. I never went to his offices. So it’s on the record numerous times.”

She urged the panel to question Donald Trump, whose decade-long friendship with Epstein has been publicly documented and confirmed by victims.
