Intel shares plunged nearly 29% at one point last week, marking the company's worst single-day trading performance in decades.

The steep decline came as investors reacted to concerns about the chipmaker's financial outlook, manufacturing strategy and ability to compete in an increasingly demanding semiconductor market.

The company's forecast for the fourth quarter disappointed investors.

Intel projected revenue of approximately $15 billion to $16 billion, below the roughly $17.08 billion expected by analysts.

Intel also indicated that it did not expect to generate positive free cash flow during the quarter, adding to concerns about the costs of its manufacturing expansion and efforts to strengthen its position in the semiconductor industry.

The decline occurred during a broader market sell-off that hit technology shares particularly hard.

The Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 also recorded substantial losses on the day.

Intel's performance reflects both company-specific concerns and broader investor uncertainty surrounding the technology sector. Its share-price decline should not be attributed solely to proposed restrictions on data-center development or other isolated political developments.
