A senior Iranian military official said Saturday that renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is “likely,” according to CBS News and the Associated Press (AP).

Mohammad Jafar Asadi, a senior figure in Iran’s military command, said in a statement carried by Fars News Agency that “a renewed conflict between Iran and the U.S. is likely.”
“Evidence has shown that the U.S. is not committed to any promises or agreements,” he added.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions following maritime incidents near the Strait of Hormuz and continued disagreements over diplomatic proposals.
