J.P. Morgan Claims Russia At Risk Of Defaulting On $700M Bond Payment

JP Morgan has confirmed that Russia risks default on public debt as it has to shell out more than $700 million in government bonds this month, and the impact of sanctions and frozen assets will make this difficult, with Reuters citing the bank’s internal memo.

The White House also announced new sanctions on Russian, Belarusian companies. These sanctions cover additional export control policies targeting oil refining, a key revenue source that supports Moscow’s military, as well as other entities supporting the Russian and Belarussian military.

The EU also seeks to ban banning shipping Euro banknotes into Russia. Earlier, Russia’s Central Bank’s foreign reserves were frozen as part of a sweeping Western sanctions package.

The lesson will feature some background on why “NATO poses a threat to Russia” and why Russia “stood up to defend the “peaceful residents of Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.” In response, BBC will launch a shortwave radio service in Ukraine and Russia.

In order to reach audiences across Ukraine and in parts of Russia, the BBC will start a daily shortwave transmission to ensure access and the “resilience of its news operations.”

Listeners can tune their receivers to 15,735kHz from 18:00-20:00 and 5875 kHz from 00:00-02:00, Kyiv time. Shortwave radio is difficult to disrupt or censor. It is also useful for emergency communications in the event that internet connectivity or other radio signal is lost.
