Light Rail Manila Corp. Announces New GM and Interim President and CEO

Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of Light Rail Transit (LRT) -1, has announced the appointment of Mr. Enrico R. Benipayo as General Manager, effective April 2024.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jose Ma. K. Lim (Chairman, LRMC Executive Committee; Director, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation) will assume the role of LRMC President and CEO on an interim basis.


Benipayo, LRMC’s former Chief Operating Officer, will lead the company’s day-to-day activities as the new GM.




LRMC stated that Benipayo possesses extensive knowledge of the rail transport sector, with over 35 years of professional experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), as well as in Maintenance and O&M Consultancy.


LRMC expressed gratitude to Mr. Juan F. Alfonso, who served as its President and CEO for the past six years.

Alfonso led the LRMC team in rehabilitating the existing LRT-1 system and achieving significant progress for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project – Phase 1 despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.


Alfonso will transition to a leadership position in Metro Pacific Light Rail Corporation (MPLRC), a shareholder of LRMC owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) and Sumitomo Corporation.
