Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for over 116,000 vehicles sold in the US and Canada due to a potential fire risk stemming from a faulty 48-volt ground connection under the passenger seat.

Ahjane Forbes reported for USA TODAYÂ that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) acknowledged the recall, stating that an overheated ground connection could increase the risk of fire.
The recall was initiated following an investigation into customer complaints of battery-related warnings. Mercedes-Benz suspects that other mechanical operations may have loosened the 48-volt ground connection, leading to the potential overheating issue.
The investigation concluded on March 15.
The vehicles included in the recall, according to NHTSA, are as follows: 2019-2023 GLS450; 2020-2023 GLE580; 2020-2023 GLS580; 2020-2024 GLE450; 2021-2023 AMG GLS63; 2021-2023 MAYBACH GLS600; 2021-2024 AMG GLE53; 2021-2024 AMG GLE63 S, and; 2023-2024 GLE350.
