According to a report by Richard Polina for the New York Post, Musk vowed to rectify the situation after learning about it.
In a statement posted on his platform X, Musk expressed his commitment to resolving the issue, stating, "Just hearing about this. Will make things good with the bakery. People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best."
The bakery in question, The Giving Pies, owned by Voahangy Rasetarinera and located in San Jose, California, claimed that Tesla had placed an order for 2,000 mini-pies but canceled it at the last minute, leaving the bakery in a financial bind.
Rasetarinera revealed that she had declined multiple catering jobs to fulfill Tesla's order and had even sent a quote to the company, which was approved by their representative.
However, Tesla's vendor, City Flavor, failed to send payment, citing being "kind of new" as an excuse. Subsequently, Rasetarinera posted about the incident online, leading to an outpouring of support from customers and a surge in demand for her pies.
As of Feb. 26, 2024, Musk had not yet followed through on his promise to make amends, prompting criticism from netizens who likened the situation to a grift similar to those associated with former President Donald Trump.
The unresolved issue highlights the challenges faced by small businesses when dealing with larger corporations and underscores the importance of fulfilling financial commitments in business transactions.
