Plastic In Bacardi's Holiday Gift Packaging Cut By 50%

Bacardi, the world’s leading private spirits company, announced that the plastic content in its gift packaging will be reduced by 50% this year’s holiday season compared to last year, according to a Business Wire report.

Bacardi will adopt a new and innovative design to eliminate the need for plastics, and replace plastic linings or trays with sustainable cardboard products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and will use disposable plastics in gift packaging every year A reduction of 147 tons.


Bacardi’s goal is to remove all disposable plastic from gift packaging and point-of-sale materials by 2023 and to reach 100% plastic-free by 2030. A 50% reduction in plastic content this year is a big step for Bacardi to achieve these two goals.



Bacardi’s current gift packaging series contains 100% plastic-free design and will be launched for the first time this year’s holiday season. It includes exquisite gift packaging designed for the company’s representative brands, such as Bacardi’s 8-year-old rum (BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho, GREY GOOSE vodka, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin, BOMBAY BRAMBLE gin, MARTINI Fiero, and DEWAR'S 12-year-old Scottish blended whisky.
