Many of these associations reported feeling the impact wrought by China's subsequent ban on importing Japanese marine products.
According to the survey, 29 out of 36 respondents from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations noted negative effects, primarily stemming from the import ban imposed by China.
The ban led to financial losses for many associations, particularly affecting exports of products like sea cucumber, scallops, and yellowtail to destinations such as China and Hong Kong.
While no reputational damage was reported in the domestic market, the impact on export channels resulted in challenges for Japanese fishing groups, highlighting the ripple effects of the import ban on the fishing industry.
