Poll Reveals Impact Of China Import Ban On Japanese Fishing Groups

A recent Kyodo News survey indicated that 80.6% of prefectural fisheries cooperative associations in Japan were affected by the discharge of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the sea.

Many of these associations reported feeling the impact wrought by China's subsequent ban on importing Japanese marine products.


According to the survey, 29 out of 36 respondents from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations noted negative effects, primarily stemming from the import ban imposed by China.
