PSE Index Up Anew

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today continued its march towards hurdling its resistance level with a muted rise of 42.83 points or 0.64 percent to 6,761.33 points, a signal of the market entering bull territory.

Financials towed the index to another upswing with a 2.06 percent rise to offset the losses in mining and oil, down by 0.82 percent, and services, down by 0.003 percent. Industrials gained 0.67 percent, holding firms up by 0.49 percent and property up by 0.06 percent.


BDO Unibank was the day's most active with trades of P605 million as it rose by P2.50 to P114 while Metrobank gained P1.55 to P56.25. PLDT was the second most active stock with P601 million as it closed P24 lower to P1,424, though it briefly hit its Wednesday close of P1,448.



Bloomberry continued its upswing with the prospects of new business from the fallout of the casino industry in Macau, rising by 37 centavos to P28.86 while market bellwether SM Investments went down by P6 to P915 after hitting a high of P933 and a low of P910.


ICTSI gained P1.20 to P198.70 while Converge rose again to P17.40, a gain of 60 centavos on the disclosure of its Singapore connectivity business foray.

Ayala Corp rose by P3.50 to P690.50, Universal Robina was up by P5.20 to P139.30, and GT Capital gained P5 to P448. Ayala Land and SM Prime were both unchanged at P31.25 and P36.75 respectively.


ACEN Corp lost 25 centavos to P8.12, AllHome was down by 4 centavos to P1.92, while DM Consunji was unchanged at P11.80. Globe Telecom was down by P54 to P2,164 while Jollibee Foods rose by P5.20 to P248, and Megaworld gained 1 centavo to P2.08.


Value turnover was again above average at p6. 8 billion while there were 93 gainers, 84 losers, and 53 shares unchanged.
