The winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn, securing the staggering $1.326 billion jackpot. The fortunate winner has the option to receive a lump-sum cash payment of $621 million instead of the annuity paid over 30 years.
The jackpot, subject to federal taxes, ranks as the eighth-largest in US lottery history.
The winning numbers drawn were 22, 27, 44, 52, 69, and the red Powerball number 9. This jackpot win breaks a streak of 41 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, highlighting the allure of Powerball as the prizes grow.
The odds of winning were astronomically slim, at 1 in 292.2 million, yet the draw attracted significant ticket sales.
