Sogo Seibu Strike Notice Delays Sale Of Firm

The labor union of Sogo Seibu, a department store under the umbrella of Seven & i Holdings, has notified the company that it would go on strike on the 31st, Fumion Matsuyama reported for Mainichi Japan.

However, coordination with the subsidiary Sogo and Seibu Labor Union over the state of business and employment after the sale has been difficult and the conflict may deepen further if the sale is forcibly proceeded.

"We plan to cooperate to the extent appropriate, including the acceptance of personnel in the Group, and continue to be involved in collective bargaining between Sogo and Seibu."

Seven & i issued a comment on the 28th in response to the strike notice from the Sogo Seibu Workers' Union, emphasizing its stance of striving to break through the current situation.
