Factory workers at Tesla have been informed to expect pay raises this year, a move that comes as the United Auto Workers (UAW) tries to organize the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s US plants, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

The UAW said that Tesla workers have conveyed company statements on the raises, which did not provide details about the size of the increases.
After securing robust contracts with Detroit’s three automakers last year, the union has initiated efforts to organize all nonunion auto plants in the US, including Tesla’s assembly and battery factories in Texas, California, and Nevada.

The UAW stated that its organizing drive will target more than a dozen US plants run by Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, and Volvo. Tesla is also on the list, along with EV startups Rivian and Lucid.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is known for his anti-labor stance.
