Larry Ellison Becomes World’s Second-Richest Person

Oracle founder Larry Ellison is now the world’s second-wealthiest person, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, after a surge in Oracle’s stock price lifted his net worth to $251.2 billion, Bloomberg News reported.

Oracle shares spiked following news that the U.S. government will allow chipmakers to export certain semiconductors to China, reversing restrictions from the Biden administration.
The rally pushed Ellison—who holds more than 80% of his wealth in Oracle stock and options—ahead of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the billionaire rankings.
Fueled by investor enthusiasm for AI stocks, Oracle shares have climbed more than 90% since late April.
The company has secured tens of billions in new cloud computing contracts and announced plans to build gigawatts of data center capacity for enterprise clients, including OpenAI, which leased substantial new infrastructure under Trump’s Stargate initiative in partnership with SoftBank.
