McDonald’s has announced that it will close all five locations of its CosMc’s chain, effectively ending the beverage-centric spinoff just two years after its launch, Aimee Picchi reported for CBS News.

The company said closures will begin in June and include the shutdown of the
CosMc’s mobile app. CosMc’s first opened in Illinois in December 2023 with a concept aimed at competing with Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts by offering a wide array of customizable drinks that traditional McDonald’s stores couldn't efficiently produce.
According to Associated Press reporter Dee-Ann Durbin, McDonald’s will incorporate some of CosMc’s top-selling items into its main menu, though it hasn’t specified which ones.
"We've learned so much, so quickly from the CosMc’s test," the company said in a statement. "It allowed us to test new, bold flavors and different technologies and processes – without impacting the existing McDonald's experience for customers and crew."
