The partnership aims to reduce production costs and shorten development timelines for Mitsubishi’s EV lineup. Foxconn, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, hopes the deal will pave the way for further collaboration with Nissan and Honda in the EV sector.

A proposed Nissan-Honda merger collapsed last month, and sources told Reuters that Nissan is open to new partnerships, including with Foxconn.

Mitsubishi is also in talks with Honda and Nissan to develop EV software, Kyodo reported. The official announcement is expected before the end of March, according to Anton Bridge of Reuters.
