Telegram Founder Leaves $14-B Fortune To His 100+ Children

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has revealed that the more than 100 children he’s fathered will inherit his fortune—including the six he’s officially acknowledged and at least 100 others born through his sperm bank donations.

Each child could inherit a staggering $132 million from Durov’s estate, which is currently worth nearly $14 billion, Emma Burleigh reported for Fortune.

Durov, 40, said he has been donating to a sperm clinic for 15 years, and the clinic informed him that he has helped conceive over 100 babies across 12 countries. Now, all of them have reportedly been included in his $13.9 billion will—even those who may not know their biological father.

“I wrote my will very recently,” Durov said in an interview with French publication Le Point.

“I make no difference between my children: there are those who were conceived naturally and those who come from my sperm donations. They are all my children and will all have the same rights! I don’t want them to tear each other apart after my death.”

This means that at least 106 children could each receive around $132 million.

However, Durov has made it clear they will have to wait: “I decided that my children would not have access to my fortune until a period of 30 years has elapsed, starting from today,” he said.

Give Legacy, a sperm and fertility clinic, told Fortune that whether the children are aware of their potential inheritance depends on whether Durov was a “directed donor” (known to the birth parent) or an “anonymous donor” (subject to stricter privacy regulations).
