Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, has announced her resignation after just over two years at the helm of the platform formerly known as Twitter, Sean Burch reported for The Wrap.

Her departure comes one day after X’s artificial intelligence model, Grok, posted a series of antisemitic and pro-Hitler responses, triggering public outrage. While Yaccarino did not explicitly cite the incident as a reason for stepping down, numerous users questioned the timing in response to her announcement.
Yaccarino joined X in June 2023, less than a year after Elon Musk acquired the social media platform.
Her surprise move from NBCUniversal—where she served as chairman of global advertising and partnerships—raised eyebrows across the tech and media industries.
Shortly after her appointment, Yaccarino aligned herself with Musk’s controversial content moderation philosophy: “Freedom of speech, not freedom of reach.”
She defended the platform’s stance on user expression, saying in 2023, “X is enabling an information independence that’s uncomfortable for some people. We’re a platform that allows people to make their own decisions.”
Her resignation post included a 213-word statement reflecting on her tenure.
Just 40 minutes later, Musk responded with a terse five-word message: “Thank you for your contributions.” His curt reply stood in stark contrast to Yaccarino’s more reflective farewell.
